A head coach's experience matters — tournament pedigree, tenure with the national team, and whether they rose through the federation's youth system. This page documents the manager profile dataset for all 48 WC 2026 coaches.
The dataset lives at data/wc2026/manager_profiles.csv (one row per nation, 48 total). It is produced by scripts/pull_manager_profiles.py and complements the lighter coaches.csv (identity, date of birth, appointment date) that the project already maintained.

coach_nationality | ISO-3 country code derived from the place-of-birth field on the coach's Wikipedia page. Null when the historical birth country (e.g. SFR Yugoslavia, Czechoslovakia) is ambiguous under modern ISO-3. |
coach_dob | ISO date of birth. |
appointed_date | First-day-as-this-team date, normalised to ISO. |
tenure_days_at_kickoff | Days between appointed_date and the 2026-06-11 tournament opener. |
previous_role | The spell immediately before the current national-team appointment (the row directly above the open-ended current row in the Wikipedia managerial-career infobox section). |
major_tournaments_managed_total | Count of distinct major tournaments the coach has been in charge of any nation for. Pulled from Wikipedia's machine-readable wgCategories list (categories like "2022 FIFA World Cup managers", "2024 Copa América managers", "Africa Cup of Nations managers" each count as one). |
